The very first rule for making restaurant-style Chilli Paneer is that you must shallow fry the cottage cheese or paneer. This is a dry snack and can be has an appetizer. When I make paneer (Indian cottage cheese) at home, then most of the times (when there is capsicum in the fridge I make this chilli paneer. Chilli Paneer is a popular Indo-Chinese dish.

Steps to make Chili paneer:
  1. In a bowl take 2 tablespoons cornstarch or 3 tablespoons refined flour. Next, add 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped ginger and garlic. Then to that add 1 /4teaspoon crushed black pepper powder and 1 /4teaspoon Kashmiri red chilli powder.
  2. Add some salt as per your seasoning. To that add 1/2cup of water to make a smooth batter without having any lumps in it. In that add paneer cubes And coat the batter on it.
  3. Heat the oil in the pan. Fry the coated paneer cubes till it gives beautiful golden red colour.
  4. In the same pan, no need to add more oil to that. Add 2 teaspoons finely chopped ginger and garlic paste and 2 to 3 green chilis. Stir Fry it for a few mins. Then add 1/3cup of spring onions and stir it on a high flame for 1 to 3 min and then add 1/2cup of sliced capsicums and cooked it for 3 to 5 mins.
  5. Now that add 1/2cup of water and mix it well. Then add soya sauce And red chili sauce as per your requirement. After that add fried paneer cubes in it and mix it well.
  6. Switch off the flame and garnish it with leaves of spring onions. Your Chili paneer is ready. Serve it with Fried rice.
