I have been thinking to post a north Indian thali recipe. But there were too many options to try. In an effort to keep the recipe simple and realizable-something that anyone can try for a special weekend lunch at home-I prepared a punjabi style thali,a mini-thali 🙂. Yes, it is not impossible to get a vegetarian Thali in Goa.

  1. To make rice: add water and rice in a cooker. Wait for two whistle on low to medium flame. Take out when pressure is released.
  2. To make tadka mung dal: 1/2 cup dal with 1 cups water, salt and turmeric powder on medium to high flame for 3-4 whistles and open when presseure is released and then give a tadka in ghee with cumin seeds, hing and green chilli.

It is not easy but you do get it at many places. Remove all the non-vegetarian food from a Goan Thali and you are left with rice, salad & sol kadi.
